Eighty-five years old at the time of this film, Brown reflects on his four decades teaching at Howard University and the impact of such figures as Jean Toomer, Langston Hughes, and Duke Ellington. Made by Gerima in collaboration with his own Howard University students, After Winter: Sterling Brown reveals a kindred spirit in Brown, who, like Gerima, draws from the rich histories and traditions of Black culture to inspire his work.
