About The Event

ÔRÍ means "Head" in Yoruba language. A visual feast of African transmigration and its continuity and political presence in the Americas. After 11 years of production, and a commemorative launch in 4 capitals of the country, ÔRÍ was at the end of 1989 in 17 international events and festivals where it received several awards: the Paul Robeson da Diaspora (11th Pan African Festival of Ouagadougou), the Costa Azul Man and Nature (5th Tróia International Film Festival-Portugal), the Special Jury Prize (1st Texaco Festival of Brazilian Cinema-Curitiba), Honorable Mention for Documentary at the Prized Pieces 89 of the National Black Programming Consortium in Columbus, Ohio (USA) ) and the Golden Gate Award for the category at the 33rd San Francisco International Film Festival.
