About The Event
HARVEST: 3000 YEARS (ምርት፤ ሶስት ሺህ ዓመት) provides an epic and harsh picture of peasant life in contemporary rural Ethiopia. It is the description of the fight and resistance of a people against the abuse of large landowners, conveyed with the power of militant and avant-garde cinema.
This landmark work, shot during a pivotal moment in Ethiopian history, offers a powerful, poetic portrayal of resistance, struggle, and the enduring strength of the Ethiopian people. Following the screening, we will host an engaging discussion that delves deeper into the film’s themes and its continued relevance today.
This event also features an exciting memorabilia and rare books auction, offering attendees a unique opportunity to acquire special items.
Most importantly, the evening is a fundraiser in support of the completion of Haile Gerima’s upcoming five-part, ten-hour documentary, Black Lions – Roman Wolves, which chronicles the Second Italian Invasion of Ethiopia. Your attendance and…
