About The Event
About DC State Chess:
The District of Columbia State Chess Federation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making chess accessible throughout Washington, DC. Through tournaments, school programs, and community events, we bring people together to learn, compete, and enjoy the game of chess.
The organization is led by Executive Director Vaughn Bennett, who has spent more than 30 years teaching chess across the Washington metropolitan area. He has taught thousands of children, adults, and seniors and has dedicated his career to expanding access to chess through education and community outreach. In 2023, he was named a finalist for the Andy Lerner Award for Excellence in Chess Education.
Today, DC State Chess continues its mission to make chess accessible and strengthen communities through the game.
