About The Event
The Damned Don't Cry
“…A riveting account of a prisoner’s unrelenting journey toward freedom.” – Angela Davis
Here, in riveting detail, Frank Chapman, sentenced at age 19 to be incarcerated for life plus 50 years, tells his story of struggles behind the walls of a Missouri prison. It’s a story of battles against segregation and racism, brutality and exploitation, but also of solidarity and the power of collective action. After an international campaign, led by the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR), Chapman was eventually freed.
Frank Chapman is a community organizer, Executive Director of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Field Organizer of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, and a member of the Central Committee of Freedom Road Socialist Organization. He is also a published writer, with articles on Truthout and Freedomways.
Merawi Gerima is a filmmaker, organizer with the DC Alliance Against Racist…
