Now in 2026, we ask the harder question: where do we go from here?
The energy that filled the streets has met a familiar enemy -not just tear gas and live bullets, but the oldest political weapon in Kenya’s arsenal: tribal division. The same politicians who were targets of the protests have worked methodically to sort Gen Z back into ethnic boxes, fracturing a generation that once called itself tribeless.
But the 2027 elections are coming. And the stakes have never been higher.
