About the Story - Beautiful Dreams
The idea for this story came in 2019 when Ellenore and Leyla Angelidis visited Nahosenay’s studio and saw his amazing paintings featuring both horses and accordions.
Horses have been a strong part of Ethiopian history for a long, long time. According to historians, a chronicle of an ancient king who lived in the 1300’s set down the name of his horse, translated as “One who terrifies.” The king’s great grandson had a palace gate built so that he could ride in and out on his horse. In the 1600’s, foreign visitors to Ethiopia noted that the emperor’s army included four or five thousand warriors on horseback and described royal horses as “covered with costly stuffs of gold hanging down to the ground.” In the 1800’s, many horses were given important names, and a powerful chief might take the same name as his…
