Gary Lilley has a uniquely special gift of using minimalist language to capture the history, the feel, the smells, and the culture of North Carolina. The heart of the culture of that region is unique and Lilley captures it perfectly in verse. As a southerner, I appreciate how clearly and accurately the author depicted his homeland. The beauty of the individual pieces stand out as a testament to the degree of attention he gives to his work. Cultivating My No Regret is a poem that should be the anthem of every displaced Southerner who longs for Home. A good read, this book is one to be savored like a good whisky.
