Eduardo Galeano es uno de los más relevantes escritores latinoamericanos. Autor, entre otras obras, de Memoria del fuego (Memory of Fire), Las venas abiertas de América Latina (Open Veins of Latin America), Espejos (Mirrors), El fútbol a sol y sombra (Soccer in Sun and Shadow), Días y noches de amor y de guerra (Days and Nights of Love and War) o El libro de los abrazos (The Book of Embraces). La colección Vagamundo y otros relatos, publicada originalmente en 1973 y ampliada en subsiguientes reediciones, responde a la obra clásica de Galeano: la narración breve, certera, hipnótica, poética-crítica. Su prosa, casi apaciguadora en su lirismo, chamánica, constantemente en busca de nuevas formas de expresión, con su capacidad alucinante para la ironía y recreación del mundo, un guiño a la literatura, a la fantasía pero también a la profundidad en la mirada, una invitación a no permanecer impasible.

The collection Vagamundo and Other Stories, originally published in 1973 and expanded in subsequent reissues, responds to Galeano's classic work: the short, precise, hypnotic, poetic-critical narrative. His prose, almost soothing in its lyricism, shamanic, constantly seeking new forms of expression, with its hallucinatory capacity for irony and recreation of the world, a nod to literature, to fantasy, but also to depth of vision, an invitation not to remain impassive.
