The next Wakanda adventure is just a pencil stroke away. Create your own superhero adventure during an afternoon of storytelling, art, education and animation at Sankofa!

Fun with flip books, thaumotropes, thing-a-majigs, a Phenakistoscope and other optical toys.

This creative, family-friendly workshop is open to artists and animators of all ages and skill levels. Completed works are digitally captured and shared online for more animated fun.

Animation Unplugged: Flip books & Fun

Session I – 2:00 to 4pm Family & Youth

Session II – 4:00 to 6pm Mature & Adult

Sankofa?

Named after the internationally acclaimed film called SANKOFA (produced by the founders). It's symbol, the Sankofa Bird, looks backward with the egg of the future in her beak, constantly checking as she moves into the future. Sankofa Video, Books & Cafe hopes to be a place where thoughtful consideration of the past and future can take place via books and videos and programming that encourage reflection, particularly generated by works by and about people of African Descent.
