"The Francophone World" Pop-Up Art Gallery with the HU French Society

Pop-up art gallery hosted by the Howard University French Society. This event is free and open to the public.

The theme of this pop-up, student-run exhibit is "The Francophone World," featuring 10-12 paintings or photographs that incorporate Francophone countries, cultures and artistry, such as Senegal, Haiti, Cote d'Ivoire and more. All the artwork has been submitted by students from Howard University, and is part of the HU French Society's week of festivals and events spotlighting different aspects of Francophone culture.

Sankofa?

Named after the internationally acclaimed film called SANKOFA (produced by the founders). It's symbol, the Sankofa Bird, looks backward with the egg of the future in her beak, constantly checking as she moves into the future. Sankofa Video, Books & Cafe hopes to be a place where thoughtful consideration of the past and future can take place via books and videos and programming that encourage reflection, particularly generated by works by and about people of African Descent.
